Strong Shape

I can remember being drawn to distinct, graphic shapes even as a young child. Calder, Jasper Johns, Matisse's papercuts...I remember doing a little jig in front of a Mondrian at the Baltimore Museum of Art. I was probably 4 or 5 years old.

Some things never change - these hollow copper bracelets from J. Collier are one of my latest pins to my Pinterest boards. Aren't they fantastic?

Make sure you click over to check out  one of the pieces in progress. I love seeing how things are made!

Have a great weekend!

  1. how very interesting - you just ticked off some of my favorites in the history of art in a snap! i am drawn to that as well, appreciate the influence it has had on your work and thank you for sharing these bracelets...
do you know of lee bontecou?
    happy weekend -

  2. Gorgeous!

And OMG. You live in my dream scenario (read from your info). I keep telling my husband we need to move to Maine to live on a lake when Zack goes to college. We live near a lot of water (Eastern Shore of MD) and kayak and such, but still -- I would LOVE Maine winters (really!)

  4. It is me who is jealous then, Pretty Things because we only visit Maine (and we actually live near the eastern shore, in southern PA).
