Words are failing me today. We are into some heavy spots in our homeschooling year and days can feel a bit laborious. Its great to have a husband who takes care of dinner/clean up so I can spend evenings in the studio.
Even in regular schooling, I have to say that February is the pits - too many events, too many projects, too many tests....we are reeling! The only bright spot in February was the regularly scheduled 'Journee blanche' where all 1300 kids go skiing, tubing or snowboarding! That was yesterday, in the middle of our current snowstorm...yet another 15 inches!
Oh yes, you are right about that! The dark before the dawn of spring, with too much to do and not enough hours of daylight. Journee blanche sounds fabulous - you Canadians really know how to enjoy winter!
These earrings are, again, wonderful! The top with the black lines is so spare with the carving and works very well against the lighter bottom of the earring. Took me a while to see it as carving, at first I thought it was lines of translucent blackish 'worms' laid onto the geometric piece. Your carving vocabulary has grown by huge leaps!
Thank you Claire. I have laid in translucent "worms" in other pieces and it hadn't occurred to me that it looks like that. This design came by accident. What is it that Chuck Close said, inspiration comes from the work itself?
